| I’ve implemented
these to allow users of browsers which recognise them to navigate more
quickly in certain areas of the site.
Microsoft Internet Explorer uses Alt+ the access key followed by Enter Firefox 2.0 uses Shift+Alt as the keystroke combination to invoke access keys. In Opera, access keys are activated by simultaneously pressing the Shift and Esc. A list of available access keys are then displayed, so just press the relevant key. In the index of countries, pressing G moves the listing to the countries with names beginning with "G". The same applies to all other letters, except X which is used for "New on the Web". These keys also work on the home page. In the species pages and country pages, the following are implemented
:-
With MSIE4, pressing [ALT] with the key passes control immediately, but with MSIE5, you have to press [Enter]. Back to the home page. |
