The Bird Stamp Society was formed in 1986 to cater for the large number of collectors who specialise in bird stamps and relevant material. The Societys focal point is the quarterly house journal "Flight", which runs to some 50-60 A4 pages. It carries a variety of features, some regular and some special to the issue. An important regular feature is listing - and attempting identification - of all birds on stamps discovered in the previous quarter. The BSS also runs thriving postal auctions and exchange packets. Current membership fees are UK - 14, Europe - 17, overseas 20 for airmail or 18 for surface mail. Under-16s can join at half price. Payment from overseas may be made through a Giro Account, 29 776 6902, but there is an extra 2.50 bank charge for this. Alternatively, payment may be made by Eurocheque, cash (Pound sterling or US Dollars), or British decimal mint stamps. Write to the Secretary. |
