This stamp comes from a set of 3 issued by Angola in 2006 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the community of Portuguese-speaking countries. The set is well described on the Angola Post web site, and also bears the logo for Lubrapex 2006, but fails to include the country's name. Because of this, the set is not illustrated on the WNS site. Instead, the illustrations are replaced by the text: "Image of the stamp not in compliance with Article 8 of the UPU convention". The theme is domestic animals, with dogs on one stamp and the popular cage bird - Grey Parrot (Psittacus erithacus) - on the other.

The Portuguese name for the guineafowl on the stamp is "Galinha do Mato - Capota". The text associated with the issue identifies the species as being Helmeted Guineafowl (Numida meleagris), which is confirmed on several sites including The African Bird Club.

However, the birds on the stamp clearly have no "helmet" and are therefore not Helmeted Guineafowl. I first thought that the head looked vulturine, but the eye colour is wrong, as is the bare skin on the face. Apart from the colour differences, there is a superficial ressemblance between the detailed head on the stamps and the one I have chosen to show. The other species I have considered is Black Guineafowl (Agelastes niger) which is native to Angola, but the colours are wrong.

Reluctantly, I will have to leave this one as "unidentified" unless anyone can put forward a good argument.
