These two interesting stamps present a few identification problems. The left stamp features four small birds, while the right one has two. Of the birds on the left stamp, the easiest to identify is the European Robin (Erithacus rubecula) at the bottom of the group. My first views of the next one up suggested that it might be of the Nuthatch family, but closer views have shown a longer tail. The nearest I can find for this is Blue-grey Gnatcatcher (Polioptila caerulea). |

The next one up looks close enough to a Goldcrest (Regulus regulus). The top one is in my opinion the most difficult, given that the artist has not restricted the species used to ones found in Lithuania. |

On the right stamp, the left bird ressembles Azure-winged Magpie (Cyanopica cyana), while the right bird looks like Common Yellowthroat (Geothlypis trichas). The choice of species shown on these stamps is rather disappointing with only two native species being shown. Does anyone have any further observations about the birds on this pair? |
