A correspondent from the Netherlands has pointed out that this stamp actually shows Common Crane (Grus grus). He has supplied me with an image that the designer used as the basis for the illustration. The features of the plumage clearly show a match on the stamp, and the source image obviously does not show Red-crowned Crane (Grus japonensis) as the Dutch name on the stamp implies. I shall correct this for my next update.
