I first learned about this set through CASB's excellent site, and ordered it from the IOM Philatelic Bureau. I was pleased to receive it two days before the official date of issue. The Manx Bird Atlas project was started in 1997. Every 1km square of the Island has been surveyed, detailing the status of 152 species of bird that either bred and or wintered in the Island between 1998 and 2003. It is a shame for my collection that of the 10 species chosen to commemorate this project, 8 have appeared on earlier Isle of Man stamps. The two new species for the island are Grey Wagtail and Whinchat. |
