| This sheet of 6 from Mali presented a few problems because the names are given in French. Luckily, there are several
web sites which have references to bird names in several languages.
I found a reference to the first, Pririt du Cap, on this site. The European Scops-Owl was obvious, but there is a possibility that the African resident species, Otus senegalensis, is shown. The next two, Egyptian Goose and European Roller were easy, but I had to search for the last two. I did not find "Promerops du Cap", but "Promerops" is the generic name for the Sugarbirds, so this must be the Cape Sugarbird which is confirmed here. "Sauteur du Cap" was more difficult, but eventually I found Sauteur de roche du Cap as the French name for Chaetops frenatus. |
