Set of 12 and 3 tabs

This interesting set was sent to me by a friend in the Netherlands. Unfortunately for my collection, only two of the species occur in the Netherlands Antilles, White-necked Jacobin and Eastern Meadowlark. There are three species which make their first appearance on stamps.

For collectors of adjacent tabs, the three images on this sheet will be of interest. The top one, shows the same image of Agami Heron (Agamia agami) that appeared on the Surinam stamp of 2001, while the middle one, Black-headed Caique (Pionites melanocephala), seems to be the same image as was used on the Surinam triangular issued in 2002. Michael Stupp has informed me that the bird on the bottom tab is a Crested Bobwhite (Colinus cristatus), which appeared poorly illustrated on a stamp from Netherlands Antilles in 1989. Perhaps this new image will appear soon on a future stamp from Surinam.

Updated 17 February 2003 to add the identity of the quail.
