This set of 3 was issued for various Philatelic Events, and shows only parrots native to Paraguay. The Blue-fronted Parrot (Amazona aestiva) has appeared on at least 6 other stamps, but this is the first from a country where the species occurs naturally. I recently added Monk Parakeet (Myiopsitta monachus) to my collection when I acquired a 1996 stamp from Uruguay, but the stamp in this set gives a much better picture of the species. The last stamp has a good image of White-eyed Parakeet (Aratinga leucophthalmus), which I already list as appearing on a stamp from French Guiana. I need to look at the stamps from that country more closely to check the identification of all the species. |
